Overdue updates

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007
It’s been a while since I last blogged.  Been raelly busy mastering the art of tai chi.  Sam gave me that term yesterday.  Yes, I have been mastering it, and if I may add, to perfection too.  I’ll get to this later.  The first think I want to talk about, or rather to update, is about another one of my bro getting married.  Afzal tied the knot with Hanim on the 23rd of August.  You heard me right, the whacky, crazy, stoned Afzal tied the knot.  Everything moved so fast and the next thing you knew, he so selamba-ly said, "I’m getting married next month boys".  Well, good for him.  I’m proud of him and I’m proud he made a wise decision to tame down a little.  I went for his wedding on the 25th in Shah Alam, my first foray in wearing a baju Melayu.  I must say I looked pretty neat.  Unfortunately Baby V forgot her camera that day  Oh well, there is always another day.  Couldn’t make it for his reception on the 1st cause I was holidaying!
My holiday blog will come soon enough.  Just to back track a little, the EPL season has started and guess what, during this international weekend break, Liverpool is nicely sitting on top of the league for the first time in 6 years; or something like that.  First game of the season against Aston Villa was a real funny affair.  So the group of us, Baby V, Kishi, Aaron, Lesley, Afzal and later on Rashid had a time of our lifes trying to catch the game.  We initially settled down at Friday’s after Laundry had let us down big time (the place was infested with mat rockers) by hosting some Campur Chart crap hence no football on the screens.  As we settled down at TGIF and was about to order beers, they tell us the bar closes at 11.30pm.  What?  You kid me not!
So half of the first half was spent going everywhere at the Curve to find a place to watch some footy.  We went up to Sanctuary, no luck, went to that new bar inside Cineleisure, no luck, went to Tony Roma’s, no luck.  We even tried booking a room at Red Box just for the sole purpose of watching the game.  No luck, they were fully booked till 4am!!!  So we went out all the way to the Kayu Nasi Kandar next to Tesco, guess what?  This mamak place has got no Astro!!!  Unbelieavable.  As we were about to drive to Uptown, I noticed McDonald’s was showing some footy.  Couldn’t believe my eyes at first but the McDonald’s at the Curve had this huge projector screen that beamed the Liverpool vs Villa game.  Fantastic.  To top things off, it was just us who were watching the game, so it was like having your mates over at your place.  So a word of advice, if you need to catch a game and you can’t find a place, go catch it at McDonald’s.  By the way, Stevie G scored a scorcher of a free kick to seal the game for us.
On another outing I had last month, we went to this place called Madigras in One U…at the old wing behind Dave’s Deli.  Liverpool Supporters Club Malaysia had a live screening of the Chelsea game and John ‘Digger’ Barnes was there as a VIP guest.  The atmosphere was great, everyone singing along to ‘You’ll Never Walk Aalone’; gave me goosebumps.  Imagine singing it at the Kop end.  I think I will have tears in my eyes.  The gane was excellent, we controlled the match, they had little or nothing upfront (stats showed that they only had 2 shots on target) and were pretty vulnerable at the back.  Torres opened his account with a sublime finish.  Then, Malouda had to do such a disgraceful thing in the worl of football.  He dived in the penalty box and the ref gave a penalty.  I was sick in the stomach.  The ref apologizing the next day was no use.  Damage done case close.  That was 2 points robbed from us. Aaaarrggghhh!!!
I think that pretty much sums up August…and not forgetting the constant trip to Wisma Yakin, hahahaha. I loved the kebaya Baby.  You looked absolutely gorgeous in it.
More to come…
